Why Should I be an Inventor?

The Benefits of Inventing

  • It's your project. You guide your process and learning. You can invent something you've always dreamed of making a reality.
  • You will learn how to present a product and improve your speaking skills.
  • Make a mark on the world and give back. Most inventions  make life easier or help people.
  • You can be creative! Invention is not only for scientists. We have seen music inventions, inventions for sports, apps, kitchen products, and much more. The program celebrates all types of inventions!
  • This is your chance to show the world what you can do. You will gain valuable skills and opportunities through CIC. Many inventors meet mentors through their process. Many inventors appear on local and national media!
  • You don't have to be an A+ student to be a great inventor. Inventors think outside the box to solve problems for the ones they love or for their communities. This requires a type of thinking that might not be measured on school tests. Even the best inventors fail and overcome challenges. Invention is a safe place to fail forward!

Inventions always start with a problem to be solved, and sometimes it isn’t easy coming up with a solution. However, once you do, the results can be extremely rewarding. Our inventors have gone on to be engineers and entrepreneurs, but the most rewarding part remains the process itself!

CIC Success Stories

Ready to Invent?

Let your school or teacher know that you'd like to see Invention Convention at your school! Students can also participate as Independent Inventors if their school or grade is not currently running the program. CIC also brings invention education to students through various clubs, organizations, after-school programs and summer opportunities.
