ASML Moving the World Forward Award

The ASML Moving The World Forward Award is designed to recognize an outstanding high school inventor whose innovation represents a significant step forward in leveraging creative engineering and problem-solving to help build a brighter future.


ASML Most Innovative Award

The ASML Most Innovative Award is awarded by Presenting Sponsor ASML to the student whose invention is determined to represent the paramount application of innovation and creativity at the Connecticut Invention Convention State Finals 2026 event. 


ASML Small Patterns, Big Impact Award

The ASML Small Patterns, Big Impact Award is designed to recognize an outstanding elementary school inventor whose creative problem-solving demonstrates the power and ingenuity of a young mind in action. 


Avangrid Sustainability Award

The Avangrid Sustainability Award is designed to recognize and award a young inventor whose innovation represents a creative application of sustainable thinking and commitment to a clean energy future.


Belcan Passion to Innovate Award

The Belcan Passion to Innovate Award is an award presented in recognition of a student whose attitude and passion -- including qualities like enthusiasm, open-mindedness, compassion, perseverance, and creativity -- best reflect the qualities of a true innovator.  


Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation Awards

The BI Cares Foundation Awards are presented to six young inventors from across the state who represent outstanding inventiveness, creative thinking, and empathy in creating innovations for a brighter future with a particular emphasis on innovativeness within the fields of technology and healthcare. 


The Cantor Colburn Patent Award

The Cantor Colburn Patent Award is presented to an inventor to seek patent rights for a selected invention.  The winner will receive pro-bono services from Cantor Colburn LLP to prepare and file a patent application directed to the invention with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).


CASE Awards

The CASE Awards are designed to recognize outstanding innovators in seventh and eighth grade who exemplify the founding values of CASE. Winners of the CASE award receive invitations to the Annual CASE Gala Dinner.


The Chase Family Award

This award celebrates an invention that focuses on the heart of the community: the family. It recognizes a project designed to improve daily life, safety, or well-being for families and multi-generational households. 


Colebank Family Award

The Colebank Foundation Award recognizes a student with a creative application of out-of-the-box-thinking in improving the educational dynamic, learning habits, and student learning environments, especially within the fields of reading and writing.


Connecticut Environmental Forum Environmental Innovation Awards

The CEF Awards are designed to recognize five young inventors who best represent the values of CEF and advance environmental stewardship. 


Connecticut Science Center Awards

The By Kids, For Kids Award recognizes inventive young students whose projects demonstrate an exceptional blend of ingenuity and creativity from a youth-driven perspective. Presented by the Connecticut Science Center, this award celebrates innovation designed by peers, for peers, with winning inventions showcased at the Science Center in Hartford, CT, to inspire the next generation of young creators. 


La Fondation Dassault Systèmes Excellence in CAD Award

The Excellence in CAD Design Award, presented by La Fondation Dassault Systèmes, honors a young innovator who demonstrates exceptional skill in creating precise, innovative, and functional designs using computer-aided design tools. It recognizes creativity, technical proficiency, and attention to detail in transforming ideas into high-quality digital models.


The Delilah Van Ness Award for Independent Inventors and Innovators

The Delilah Van Ness Innovation Award honors the memory of Delilah Van Ness, a beloved independent inventor and cherished member of the CIC community. Known for her vibrant spirit, boundless creativity, and unwavering dedication to innovation, Delilah’s contributions have left a lasting impact. This award is presented to an independent inventor who embodies the same qualities Delilah demonstrated—one who not only shows exceptional inventiveness but also demonstrates a deep care for their community. The recipient of this award is someone who embraces unconventional approaches and uses their creativity to make a positive difference in diverse ways.


Emerson (Global) Green Innovations Award

The Emerson Green Innovations Award is granted to an inventor who exemplifies the Emerson cause of “Planet”, seeking to improve the ecological landscape of our Earth with their invention.


Dominion Energy Innovation Award

The Dominion Energy Innovation Award is designed to recognize and award a young inventor whose innovation represents a unique innovation in the field of of a sustainable and clean energy future.


ESPN Innovation Award

The ESPN Awards recognize four distinguished inventors who have taken strides to innovate in the field of athletic technology and equipment, highlighting exemplary applications of technology that improve the safety and efficiency of athletes everywhere.


The Eversource Award

The Eversource Award is presented to a young inventor whose invention represents a significant and creative innovation within the field of energy efficiency, clean energy, and environmental stewardship. 


Fire Marshal Awards

The Connecticut Fire Marshals Association Fire Safety Awards are designed to recognize young inventors who have made outstanding strides in advancing and preserving fire safety and prevention. 


Gartner Research Award

The Gartner Research Award is presented to the student who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to the scientific method and data-driven discovery. This honors an inventor who has conducted thorough background research and used those insights to validate and refine their invention.


Gawlicki Family Foundation “Seeking A Solution” Award

The Gawlicki Family Seeking a Solution Award is presented to an inventor who demonstrated thoughtfulness in selecting a problem that is sincere and relevant to the inventor and which exemplifies the importance of problem identification in the creative-thinking process. 


Google Accessible Education Award

The Google Education Access award is awarded to an inventor whose innovation best advances learning opportunities for educators and learners, with a particular focus on tools that set communities up for success in building the future they want for themselves.


Hubbell Light Bulb Moment Award

The Hubbell Lightbulb Moment Award is designed to recognize students with particular creativity and innovativeness in using electrical components to improve the world around them.


The Jacobs Family Award

The Jacobs Family Pets and Animal Care Award is designed to recognize a student inventor whose invention represents a significant step forward in the well-being of pets and animals, as well as the lives of pet owners across the world. 


The Jordan Conover Innovative Design Award

The Conover Innovative Design Award is dedicated to recognizing an exceptional student inventor who displays a distinct affinity for creative engineering and thoughtful problem-solving. This honor celebrates outstanding ingenuity in the prototyping phase, highlighting a design that balances both unique functionality and original aesthetic execution. 


Kid Governor's Choice Award

"The Kid Governor's Choice Award recognizes the invention that best aligns with the sitting Kid Governor's platform and is selected by the Kid Governor and their Cabinet Members.

Connecticut’s 2026 Kid Governor is Theresa “Tessa” Hallinan from Green Acres Elementary School in North Haven. Her Everyone Belongs platform addressing inclusion for students with disabilities. 


The Kuselias Family Award

The Kuselias Family Award recognizes a uniquely entrepreneurial and intrepid young inventor who exemplifies the practice of overcoming adversity to achieve excellence within the fields of social services, human rights, and education. 


The Kutnick Family Award

The Kutnick Family Award recognizes a young inventor with a truly exceptional application of creative thinking within the field of environmental stewardship broadly and clean water equity specifically. 


Lincoln Financial Foundation Presidential Awards

The Lincoln Financial Foundation recognizes creative, empathetic, and community-minded innovators with inventions that have potential to improve lives and communities, especially those within the Greater Hartford area. 


The Linde Award

The Linde Award is designed to recognize a young inventor whose innovation represents a novel

application of technology to help create a more sustainable future.

 

Lockheed Martin High School Innovator Award

The Lockheed Martin High School Innovator Award recognizes the most outstanding application of engineering design, creative-thinking, and perseverance in the face of tough challenges within the high school age group.


Lockheed Martin Middle School Innovator Award

The Lockheed Martin Middle School Innovator Award recognizes the most outstanding application of engineering design, creative-thinking, and perseverance in the face of tough challenges within the middle school age group.


Merrill Lynch Fairfield Innovator Award

The Merrill Lynch Fairfield Innovator Award honors a student from Fairfield, CT whose invention demonstrates exceptional innovation, market potential, and real-world impact. The award reflects the firm's commitment to empowering the next generation of thinkers and leaders in their pursuit of meaningful, forward-thinking solutions.


McCormick, Paulding, and Huber Patent Award

The McCormick, Paulding, and Huber Patent Award is presented by a team of attorneys at MP&H to the invention that is determined to represent the most credible opportunity in securing intellectual property rights. The winner will receive pro-bono services from MPH LLP to submit a formal application to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). 


NASA Space Grant Rising STAAR Award

The NASA Rising STAAR award is designed to recognize an outstanding inventor across the themes of Space, Technology, Aerospace, Aeronautics, and Robotics. 


NBC “Connecting You” Award

The NBC Connecting You award is dedicated to a student inventor who has gone above and beyond in advancing social innovation and connecting people together, particularly in those in NBC’s service locations. 


NextMinds People's Choice Award

The NextMinds People's Choice Award celebrates an inventor who left the strongest impression on our community of judges. Beyond the scoresheet, this award recognizes a student whose work was observed to be exceptionally thoughtful, well-researched, and who demonstrated the unique 'spark' that connects all innovators. 


NextMinds Accessible Innovation Award

Presented to an inventor who proudly navigates the highs and lows of the creative process, turning setbacks into a final, polished innovation. This award emphasizes the journey of innovation, recognizing an individual who transforms challenges into opportunities and ultimately strengthens their invention through experience.


Petit Family Foundation Promising Young Woman Awards

The Petit Family Foundation Promising Young Woman awards are designed to honor the lives of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Petit, and Michaela Petit, and are presented each year to the state’s most innovative, creative, and bright young women.


Pfizer Health and Safety Award

The Pfizer Health and Safety Award is presented to a student whose invention exemplifies a significant step forward in the ongoing quest to improve the quality of life and health of people everywhere. 


Push For Entrepreneurship Sports and Fitness Award

The Push For Entrepreneurship Health and Fitness Award is presented to an inventor whose innovation embodies the concepts of fitness, exercise, and healthy living for all people that best define the Push For Entrepreneurship spirit. 


RTX Dependable Power Awards

The RTX Dependable Power Award is presented to two young inventors whose inventions represent outstanding strides towards a world with more plentiful, reliable, and sustainable energy and power sources.


RTX Jules Verne Awards

The RTX Jules Verne Award is presented to two young inventors who best exemplify Jules Verne's historic enthusiasm for truly unique and novel innovations that are as ingenious as they are creative. 


Stanley Black & Decker Grow The Trades Awards

The Stanley Black & Decker Grow the Trades Award is awarded by Presenting Sponsor Stanley Black & Decker to a student whose invention represents an innovation with unique potential to improve the lives and work of the millions of makers, builders, and tradespeople across the nation.


Starlight Excellence in Construction Award

Presented to a student whose invention demonstrates outstanding logic, structural integrity, and creative problem-solving in the field of building or infrastructure. This award honors the "blueprints" of a great idea brought to life through solid engineering.


SWE Innovation Awards

The Society of Women Engineers' five SWE Awards are designed to recognize outstanding young female inventors and future changemakers.


Telaid Innovation in Integration Award

The Telaid Innovation in Integration Award is presented to a young inventor who demonstrated exceptional creativity in combining and/or integrating different technologies to yield a new and more effective solution to a problem they've identified.


Travelers Safe Home Award

The Travelers Safe Home award is presented to a young inventor whose invention represents a creative and unique means of improving the safety and security of our homes and loved ones that live within them. 


Travelers Safe Auto Award

The Travelers Safe Auto award is presented to a young inventor whose invention represents a creative and unique means of improving the safety and security of our automobiles and those that use them everyday. 


Troutman Pepper Locke Awards


Excellence In STEM Award (Provisional and Non-Provisional Patent)

The Troutman Pepper Locke Excellence in STEM Awards are selected by a team of attorneys at Troutman Pepper Locke and are presented to inventors that are determined to have an exceptional opportunity to secure intellectual property rights. The winners will receive pro-bono services to submit a variety of formal applications to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). 


Emerging Innovator Award

The Troutman Pepper Locke Emerging Innovator Awards are selected by a team of attorneys at Troutman Pepper Locke and are presented to inventors that are determined to have the unique qualities of an aspiring innovator. 


Trademark Fanciful Award

The Troutman Pepper Locke Trademark Fanciful Award is selected by a team of attorneys at Troutman Pepper Locke and is presented to an inventor whose ideas are determined to exemplify the qualities of a strong trademark.


TRUMPF Innovation Award

The TRUMPF Innovation Award is presented to a young inventor with a particularly keen ability in engineering and design, particularly with respect to innovations with potential applications in industrial manufacturing. 


Telaid Innovation in Integration Award

This award is presented by CIC partner Telaid to a young inventor who has shown particular skill and creativity in combining and integrating existing technologies to make something better.


UConn School of Business Entrepreneurship Award

The University of Connecticut's Entrepreneurship Award is presented by the School of Business in recognition of a particularly enterprising future entrepreneur. 


UConn School of Engineering Innovation in Engineering Award

The University of Connecticut's Innovation in Engineering Award is presented by the School of Engineering in recognition of an inventor with a particularly developed set of skills in engineering and design. 


UConn School of Fine Arts Creativity Award

The University of Connecticut's Creativity Award is presented by the School of Fine Arts in recognition of an inventor with an extraordinary level of out-of-the-box thinking and creative potential. 


UConn School of Nursing Care Delivery Award

The University of Connecticut's Care Delivery Award is presented by the School of Nursing in recognition of an inventor whose creation represents a particularly creative innovation within the field of medicine and healthcare.

The U.S. Innovator Challenge award is an invite-only opportunity hosted by Innovation World to compete against the nation's most talented and earnest inventors in a virtual environment with the opportunity – if selected as a winner at this event – to matriculate to compete at its subsequent global competition.


US Nationals Invitations

The Invention Convention U.S. Nationals award is an invite-only opportunity to compete in next year’s Invention Convention U.S. Nationals at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, in June 2027.


Yale Club of Hartford's Eli Whitney Award 

The Yale Club of Hartford Eli Whitney Award is presented to inventors representing outstanding applications in any one of the following:

Improving tools, machines, or manufacturing processes

Advancing efficiency through design, standardization, or automation

Creating practical solutions that enhance productivity and usability

Bridging innovation and industry through functional, real-world applications

This award recognizes inventors who embody Eli Whitney’s legacy by transforming ideas into impactful, practical innovations that improve how things are made and used.


Yale Club of Hartford’s Samuel Morse Award

The Yale Club of Hartford Samuel Morse Award is presented to inventors who demonstrate exceptional ingenuity in advancing communication, expression, and the exchange of ideas. This award is inspired by Samuel Morse’s legacy of revolutionizing information transmission and bridging art with technology.


Yale Club of Hartford’s David Bushnell Award

The Yale Club of Hartford David Bushnell Award is presented to inventors who demonstrate exceptional ingenuity in pioneering bold, unconventional solutions in transportation, engineering, and design. This award is inspired by David Bushnell’s legacy of breakthrough thinking and early technological experimentation.


Zachs Family Toys and Games Award

The Zachs Toys and Games award recognizes the "fun-damentals" of innovation. This award is presented to a student who has designed a creative toy, game, or recreational tool that promotes joy, learning, and engagement through play.
