The 2023 State Finals will be held at the University of Connecticut on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 from approximately 9am - 3 pm. Gampel will be undergoing some work during the spring and summer, so this year's event will take place within various spaces at the UConn Student Union Building.
To accommodate all our amazing inventors, attendance at the in-person Connecticut Invention Convention State Finals 2023 will be by invitation only.
We anticipate inviting approximately 250 semi-finalists, which is the largest event we can safely host on campus this year. CIC is growing, and in the future, so will our events! We recognize how important in-person experiences are for young inventors, and we are working to build capacity to offer them to as many inventors as possible moving forward.
This year's inventor participant fee will be $40. The event fee can be paid by either the inventor's school, or, by the inventor's parent/guardian. CIC is committed to making sure that every finalist can participate, and will work with families in need to ensure this is the case.
After Semi-Finals judging concludes, we will notify program leads of any state finalists from their school by the end of April.
Each finalist must be accompanied by a chaperone, typically a parent or guardian. Teachers are of course welcome to attend the event. If you are interesting in helping out as a volunteer on June 10th, please email Kerry at kerry@ctinventionconvention.org
Finalists will check-in and set up their project display in their designated space. After some welcome remarks, each project group will be visited by a small team of judges who will talk with each inventor and evaluate their projects. After judging, there will be time for inventors to visit other projects, have a lunch break, enjoy the event, and maybe even win a prize! Inventors that are receiving an award will be invited to stay for the concluding awards and recognition ceremony.
Inventors should bring their project display (e.g. tri-fold board), logbook and prototype.
Lunch is not provided to finalists, however the dining hall will be open and families are welcome to bring brown bag or picnic lunches. We are also hoping to have one or more dining trucks at the event.
