Register Your Students

Congratulations - you've created a whole new group of student inventors! Now it's time to register some of them to represent your school/district at one of the two CIC Annual State Final Events assigned to your school.

Student Registration for the 2019-20 CIC Annual State Final Event will open in early February, 2020 or sooner. Please watch your email for the specific date. Registering your students for the CIC Annual State Final Event is done through the Teachers Workspace. The deadline for all student registrations is March 31, 2020.

How Many Students Can I Register for the CIC State Final?

  • Unless otherwise announced in your email, plan on registering the top 10% of students in your program.
  • If you have questions, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

What Does it Cost to Attend the CIC State Final?

  • The registration fee for each student is $50.

Information Required for Registering Students (the student registration system will change to a new system, therefore required information listed here may change by the time registration opens):

  • Student's name, address, and grade
  • Invention name, invention purpose, and invention description
  • Parent/guardian name, email address, and phone number for emergency contact during an event
  • Other information required will be a photo/video/social media waiver, which CIC intends to present electronically during the registration process.
  • Additional information may be required as the new system is released

What Happens After the CIC State Final event?

  • Students are selected from each of the CIC State Finals to participate in Invention Convention Worldwide (ICW) at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan. ICW determines how many students are invited from CIC.
  • Instructions for registering for ICW will be emailed to teachers and parents. Typically, parents are responsible for registering students for ICW, but teachers may be asked to help.
  • Each student will need to provide the required materials to complete the registration process.
  • For planning purposes only, the typical cost for ICW student registration for last year's event was $300 (partially subsidized).  Transportation and hotel costs extra.  At least one parent must attend with each inventor, and their ICW registration fee was $350.  It is not yet known what the costs will be for ICW 2020.  Check Invention Convention Worldwide for more specific info as it becomes available.
