State Finals Information
When is CIC State Finals?
The Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) Award Ceremony will take play on May 23rd on both Facebook and YouTube. You do not need to register in order to view the Award Ceremony, and links will be provided and added to this page and the CIC Website Front Page closer to the air date.
How and When will US Nationals Invitees be Notified?
Inventors for Nationals will be notified in the first week of May advance of CIC State finals via direct email. We ask notified inventors to please not share this information. The Connecticut Invention Convention will notify Nationals finalists early so that they can properly prepare for US Nationals, which will have a submission deadline of May 13. Please note that the US Nationals submission process closely mirrors the State Finals submission process.
How and When will my Inventor Receive their Awards?
All State Finalist Award-Winners will receive swag, awards, certificates, and any other prizes in early Summer. They will be mailed directly.
The CIC will notify schools of the event dates. Note the event registration deadline, as inventors must have registered by that time. The zFairs registration system is designed to have the families of the inventors register their child(ren). We will need help from our schools in getting the registration link and information to the invited inventors’ families.
Teacher Professional Development (PD)
PD is a key component to running a successful invention education program in a school or club setting. CIC offers a variety of classes as well as advanced topics in the Fall of each school year. PD can be customized for a whole district or larger groups of teachers.

We love when teachers attend our events. Please plan to come and support your inventors and represent your school. Your inventors will light up when they see your face prior to presenting to their judges! Your inventors would love to celebrate with you.
Your special status as a teacher is needed at our events as inventor coordinators and floor monitors during judging. If you would like to participate in a CIC event as a teacher volunteer, let us know!
CIC presents at various conferences such as CSTA and exhibits at STEM-related events such as the Connecticut STEM conference.
Students that prticipate in a CIC program and are selected by their teachers are eligible to attend a CT State Final Event. Some students are then selected to progress to Invention Convention Worldwide (ICW) which is being held virtually this year.
