Register Your Students

Congratulations - you've created a whole new group of student inventors! Now it's time to register some of them to represent your school/district at the CIC Annual State Final Event.

Student Registration for the 2018-19 CIC Annual State Final Event will open in early February, 2019 or sooner. Please watch your email for the specific date. Registering your students for the CIC Annual State Final Event is done through the Teachers Workspace. The deadline for all student registrations is April 7, 2019.

How Many Students Can I Register for the CIC State Final?

  • Unless otherwise announced in your email, plan on registering the top 10% of students in your program.
  • If you have questions, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

What Does it Cost to Attend the CIC State Final?

  • The registration fee for each student is $45.
  • The fee is either paid by the school/district or by the student's parents. You'll select who is responsible for payment during the registration process.

Information Required for Registering Students:

  • Student's name, address, and grade
  • Invention name, invention purpose, and invention description
  • Parent/guardian name, email address, and phone number for emergency contact during an event
  • Other information required will be a photo/video/social media waiver, which CIC intends to present electronically during the registration process.
  • Additional information may be requested, but not required.

What Happens After the CIC State Final event?

  • Students are selected from the CIC State Final to participate in the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan. NICEE will be held at the end of May, tentatively May 30 - June 1.  NICEE determines the number of students representing Connecticut.
  • Instructions for registering for NICEE will be emailed to teachers and parents. Typically, parents are responsible for registering students for NICEE, but teachers may be asked to help.
  • Each student will need to create a video of their presentation (called a "pitch") and include that with their NICEE registration, along with inventor photos.
  • For planning purposes only, the typical cost for NICEE student registration for last year's event was $300 (partially subsidized).  Transportation and hotel costs extra.  At least one parent must attend with each inventor, and their NICEE registration fee was $350.  It is not yet known what the costs will be for NICEE 2019, but as soon as we know, we will communicate with teachers and parents.
