Register Your School
Welcome to a new year of CIC! Last year, CIC served over 17,000 students in grades K-8 across Connecticut and beyond. We are excited to welcome you to CIC 2017!
For a detailed description of how to implement the CIC program, please see "How to bring CIC into your school."
School Registration for the 2016-17 year will open on October 15, 2016. Please note Key Registration and Payment Dates at the right of this page.
What you get:
- CIC’s latest curriculum package
- Teacher mentor support
- Online teacher workspace to register your school/program and enter a roster of your participating students (NEW!)
- Right to send your best students to the Regional Events, and maybe even the CIC Annual State Finals, and join young inventors from over 250 schools from around the state. (NEW!)
- Schools' location for regional events are determined by the school's zip code.
- Select students from the CIC Annual State Finals are invited to move on to the National Invention Convention.
What it costs:
The program is free for schools participating for the first time. After that, and for all returning schools, the enrollment fee is $150 per school/program. There is a Discounted Registration Fee Schedule for districts/groups enrolling multiple schools.
Once your school is registered, you will be given the link to access the on-line Curricular Resources folder where you will be able to find, download and print out any and all of the information you need. There are over 130 different lessons for grades K-8. Each lesson includes the step-by-step activity, a list of Connecticut Core and NGSS standards addressed, an introductory Powerpoint presentation, evaluation rubric and additional support materials.
Student Roster (NEW!)
Within your teacher workspace, you'll enter your student roster to allow you to keep track of the students in your CIC program. In January, you will be asked to enter the names and grades of the participating students. This information will be used by CIC to plan adequate space at each regional location for your students. The deadline date to enter your student roster is January 15, 2017.
Register student inventors for Regional Event: (NEW!)
After you have successfully registered your school and you have taught the curriculum, the next step is to register selected student inventors to attend the Regional Event assigned to your school. You'll register your students by selecting them from your roster in your teacher workspace. Refer to the blue sidebar at the right to determine which Regional location will host your school and the important dates associated with your Regional. To check in which county your school is located, check this list. Some of those students may then be selected for the CIC State Finals at UCONN, and selected students from State Finals will be invited to move on to the National Invention Convention.
