2016 Year in Review
2016 was a phenomenal year for Connecticut's young CIC inventors throughout the state and on the national scene!
On April 30, 2016, 985 students from 246 schools who were taught by over 700 teachers, gathered in 2 venues for the 33rd Connecticut Invention Convention, held at UCONN in Storrs, with Grades K-3 hosted at the Student Union Ballroom and Grades 4-8 hosted in Gampel Pavilion.
Over 400 volunteer judges were present to select over 300 Recognized Inventors, and nearly 100 volunteer sponsor judges presented special awards. The CIC Board of Directors and Staff are eternally grateful to all the teachers, parents, friends and family, who volunteered their time and energy behind the scenes - before, during and after this event - and helped us insure a successful event for all!
55 students in grades 4-8 were selected to participate in the inaugural National Invention Convention in Washington, DC, while another 18 K-3rd graders submitted virtual entries by video.
The winners chosen from 260 national student inventors from 15 different states included 13 from the Connecticut delegation. A list of the National winners is here: http://www.stemie.org/nicee-2016-award-winners-list/.
It comes as no surprise that our hearts swell with pride for each and every participant. Congratulations!
