STUDENT REGISTRATION OPEN  Mar 1, 2010 - April 15, 2010

STANDARD REGISTRATION:  If you are a student inventor and you have been selected at your local invention convention to represent your school at the next CIC, congratulations!  You, your parent, or teachers may Register between March 1, 2010 and April 15, 2010, by using our new online registration process instruction below under  Standard Student Registration process. 

 

INDEPENDENT REGISTRATION: If you are an Individual student whose school does not participate in the CIC, or if you are home-schooled,  you may apply as an Independent Student Registrant.  If your application is accepted, you can attend the state convention.  Click on  Independent Student Registrant notice.  For any questions, contact us

 

These processes will enable you to receive all the necessary participation information you need by email, including the UConn Campus Map and the Table Layout & Annual Program timeline.   (these special documents are also listed below in the event you are a late registrant, or have not received the documents in a formal acknowledgement)

STUDENT REGISTRATION Processes:

  • STANDARD STUDENT REGISTRATION:  Since March 23rd 2009, all student Inventors need to register on-line. They can get help from their parents or teachers if necessary.  This Internet Application is on a Secure Server, and data will not be shared with Marketers or others not authorized by CIC. Student Names, Invention Names, and School or Towns will be printed in the Annual Program as always.  Winners will be posted to our website, with only the same information, plus the Award Name honoring the student.    A Student Registration Instruction Manual is available for help.  We always are open to new ideas that help our organization.  If you have a great idea on how to improve this process, please send your ideas and appropriate 'screen-shots' to further focus attention,  to: HRK34@aol.com

     

    • Click on ONLINE STUDENT REGISTRATION  PROCESS to begin.    If you have technical or functional questions, you may contact the LIVE HELP BUTTON (in the upper right corner of the screen), or email your question to custservice@mblast.com,  or  contact us.  You may also, phone the Student Registrar at 860-342-2240.

      On the left of the page is the outline list of steps to follow.  These will be Highlighted as you progress through the process.  Further instructions will be sent via email as the process is followed, to confirm your sign in process and to guide you along.

    • Hit the START button to begin the process as follows:
      • Registered Schools Are Given the Link to Student Registration
      • Users (Parents, Teachers, or Students with Parental permission) Register First
      • Enter and Confirm User Identification
      • Read and Accept Rules and Guidelines
      • Enter Student Registration Information (required fields marked with a red line)
      • Review or Change Entry
      • Add New Student or Proceed to Pay
      • Give Billing Information
      •  Invoice Will be Sent
      • Remit Payment ($25 per student) and Receive Email Confirmation
    • LAST STEP:  Once payments are received, you can download  be “Participation Packet” which includes the Participant’s Letter, a Program of the Day/Layout Overview and  UConn Campus map.

     

  • SPECIAL-INDEPENDENT-STUDENT/HOME-SCHOOL-PROCESS:   If a student is home-schooled, or if the student's school does not participate in the CIC, the  student may apply as an INDEPENDENT STUDENT REGISTRANT.    There is a $35 fee to register as an Independent Registrant... PLEASE  contact us, to register between Oct. 29, 2009 and Feb. 15,  2010  and if accepted another $25 fee for attending the convention.  Attendance at the convention is a separate process noted below, via the web process noted in Step 7 

    1. ALL STUDENT REGISTRATIONS BEGIN MARCH 1, 2010 AND END APRIL 16, 2010. 

    2.  During the school year between now and CIC, learn about inventing and inventors as you solve your own problem with an actual invention that you create. (Initial Independent Study registration, is open 10-29-09 thru 02-15-10 and provide you with telephone assistance, or a teacher buddy)

  1.   NEW CIC S.T.E.M. BASED CURRICULUM is also available and may be purchased for $25.00 via honora.kenney@ctinventionconvention.org.  

  2. The fee for an INDEPENDENT STUDENT REGISTRANT to use materials posted  is just $35, (Actual registration takes place in step 2,  State Competition Registration takes place in Step 7 below).

  3. Beginning March 1, you may register for the state event.

  4. On the Student page, click: INDEPENDENT STUDENT REGISTRANT  

  5. When asked for "School/Business" entry, type in "INDEPENDENT STUDENT REGISTRATION" as your School/Business. 

  6. The CIC reserves to right to determine eligibility for INDEPENDENT STUDENT REGISTRATION.

  7.  Use the Online Student Registration Instruction Manual if you need help during registration.

  • TELEVISION-APPEARANCE-OPPORTUNITIES:    Many request come into the CIC from shows such as Jay Leno's Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, CyberChase, American Inventor, Zoom, David Letterman, Martha Stuart,  Everyday Edison's as well as local broadcasters.   If you have a great inventions, and wish to be featured on these shows... feel free to make a video presentation of you and your invention, and be ready to send to Casting-Calls from the producers.  Come visit here for Casting Calls often.  They come up unexpectedly, and disappear fast...  so have your Audition Tape or DVD ready.   

    So you don't know what to do for an audition tape?  Simply click on Gabriella Bradley's winning audition tape, for a good example.  This video landed her a spot on CyberChase, and Ellen.  Another fine example of an audition tape if from Rico Biggart.  These videos may also be used to model your presentation to judges.

    The CIC encourages kids to develop links to the media, with parental permission of course, since the trips to the studios are free, it offers kids the chance for national exposure, and who knows?  Maybe the idea will be picked up and marketed, with the child getting potential marketing offers.

    IF CHILDREN OR PARENTS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS TO THE VALIDITY OF SHOWS, THEIR PRODUCERS, OR IF CHILDREN ARE SOLICITED WITHOUT PARENTAL PERMISSION, Please contact us with the details, so we can review the legitimacy and take appropriate actions to prevent illegitimate or improper behaviors.

    Any of the approved casting calls below are free to apply, and if selected the show(s) will provide transportation, food, and lodging  to and from the studio (in Hollywood, NYC, or wherever) for the student and at least one parent or guardian.    

  • CASTING-CALLS  

    • Ellen DeGeneres IS LOOKING FOR INVENTORS FOR THE FEBRUARY 2010 SHOOT OF "Kid Inventor's" Segment. Tapes/DVDs cannot be returned.   Include your full name, phone, in the video.
      Make your Video, examples like Gabi's or Rico's, are a great model.  Make a tape/DVD, then send ASAP  to :
