CIC Executive Director, Ron Katz is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew Harris, Board Member, and Audrey Larson, Student Advisor, to the CIC Board of Directors.

    About Andrew Harris, PG, LEP

Andrew is currently the Office Manager for the Connecticut office of Amec Foster Wheeler, a global company working with clients in the Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Mining, Power & Process, and Environment & Infrastructure markets.  Andrew has over 20 years of experience as a Professional Geologist and Licensed Environmental Professional helping companies, municipalities, and federal agencies address their legacy environmental liabilities by providing innovative solutions to brownfields and complex hydrogeologic problems.  Before working as a professional geologist, Andrew worked for several years teaching technical skills as an Outdoor Educator in Connecticut and Michigan.  Much of this work focused on helping adults, teenagers, and at-risk youth learn how to work as a team while expanding personal boundaries and challenging perceptions of what is achievable.  Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio, and his Master of Science degree in Geosciences from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut.

Andrew has been a judge at the Connecticut Invention Convention Finals for three years on behalf of the CT Environmental Forum. Amec Foster Wheeler joined as a program sponsor this year as a direct result of Andrew’s efforts.

    Audrey Larson – Student Representative

Audrey is a rising 9th grade student in Wallingford, having just completed 8th grade at Dag Hammarskjold Middle School. Her most recent invention, CANOPE (Carbon Abatement Naturally Over Paved Environments), won her the Environmental Award from the CT Environmental Forum, the Petit Family Foundation’s Promising Young Woman Inventor Award, and a Recognized Inventor Award at the 2017 Connecticut Invention Convention Finals.  She then went on to win the Cantor Colburn Patent award at the 2017 National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE).

Previously as a 7th grade student, Audrey won the Microsoft Accessibility Award as well as awards from CASE and the CT Science Fair for her invention SEAT (Safe Emergency Assistive Technology). She did not win an award at NICEE in 2016, but came back even more determined to be a successful inventor.
